"Merlin" Art Slingshot in Hanging Cache
"Merlin" Art Slingshot in Hanging Cache
This slingshot's antler-like skeleton is driftwood, gathered on the shores of South Manitou Island. From its place on the beach, it faced the ominous wrecked hull of a ship inhabited by flocks of leering cormorants. Over the years, it became imbued with a very special sort of magic, and thus was named: The Merlin Slingshot.
Navy blue leather attachments, a stone leather pouch, and phlox blue bands evoke the sea, sand, and sky, while the gold accents highlight the wood's unique, undulating, naturally ergonomic shape.
The hand-built shadowbox and mitered frame are made from fragment douglas fir, and the backing is reclaimed plywood. The frame opens and closes on hinges and is held by a tiny latch. The back of the shadowbox has hanging attachments, so it's ready to hang on your living room wall.
Frame measures 20 5/8 x 16 5/8 inches. 3 5/8 inches deep from back to front of frame.
