Dryad Slingshot in Hanging Cache
Dryad Slingshot in Hanging Cache
Brought back from the deep forests of Maine, this slingshot stick is gnarled and knotty. Its crackled taupe bark is misted with lichens, green, grey, and white. It whispers of the woods. It is nestled in a mossy nook, dripping with spanish moss, and accompanied by two real butterflies. (Heliconius melpomeme amaryllis, top left, Callicore cynosura, bottom right).
This slingshot has classic, tubular bands, and a brown leather pouch. The bands are attached using the loop through hole method. The pouch is attached using the knot in hole method. The slingshot is not removable from its cache.
The hand-built shadowbox and frame are made from fragment douglas fir, and the backing is reclaimed plywood. The frame opens and closes on hinges and is held by a tiny latch. The back of the shadowbox has hanging attachments, so it's ready to hang on any wall.
Frame measures 24 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches, and measure 3 1/2 inches from front to back.
